Dr. Kevin Timpe is a Professor of Philosophy and the Jellema Chair for Philosophy of Religion at Calvin College. He works primarily on the metaphysics of free will, philosophy of religion, and virtue ethics. He is an author of five books and dozens of papers.
This lecture introduces the basic ideas in his most recent book Virtues and Their Vices. This book, published by Oxford University Press, is the only extant contemporary, comprehensive treatment of specific virtues and their competing vices. It discusses the role virtue theory and the virtues themselves play in a number of disciplines, ranging from theology and political theory to neurobiology and feminism.
